Over the next couple of months, Universal Music staff are preparing for and taking part in both the Universal Music Ride and the 2018 London Marathon for inspiring causes and charities.

With the London marathon looming next weekend, runners from across Universal Music - Shiarra Bell, Adam Bulleid, Gavin Fraser, Rosie Gee, Neil Mulford, Alex Trown and Rachel Tregenza - have been spending the last couple of months training and fundraising for their 26.2 mile run.

Forty staff from Universal Music have set off on their 300 mile ride to Paris in aid of music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and victim recovery charity FENVAC. Starting from the Kensington High Street offices soon after 7.30am on Thursday morning, our cyclists are spending three days riding across the Channel and France, challenged by the ever-changing weather and terrains.

The music that provided the soundtrack to the London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony is available now, just moments after the Ceremony ended tonight, Sunday 12 August 2012. The release follows the massive global success of ‘Isles of Wonder – Music For The Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games’ which, within seconds of release after the ceremony, had registered in the top 10 download chart in 42 countries.

The spectacular music that featured throughout the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony is available digitally now, around the world, just moments after the Ceremony has ended. From the moment the specially-commissioned 23-ton bell, the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, chimed, the Olympic Stadium came to life with music. The emotional punch and strength of two brand new compositions from Underworld provided some of the most stirring moments of the night.

The London 2012 Olympic Games are destined to be remembered for a lot of things including - hopefully - the heroics of British athletes like Jessica Ennis and newly crowned Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins as they compete for gold. But the chances are London 2012 will also be remembered as the first musical Olympics, when spectators walk away from the velodrome or aquatics centre whistling a classic or humming one of the five official Olympic songs from Muse, Elton vs Pnau, Dizzee Rascal featuring Pepper, Delphic or Chemical Brothers.
