Fiction Records: a retrospective


Last night saw the live, and very loud, launch of the Fiction retrospective exhibition at London’s House Of Vans in Waterloo. Four of the label’s acts – Palace, The Big Moon, The Amazons and Crystal Castles – took to the stage to celebrate the heritage of the iconic label.

PJ Harvey has scored her first UK number one with her ninth studio album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, completing an albums and single chart double for her label Island who are also celebrating the number one single with One Dance from global superstar Drake.

Secret 7" 2016 opens its doors


Secret 7, the Universal Music-backed project that combines music and art for a good cause, opened its doors for 2016 at Sonos Studio last weekend. This year, tracks by Chvrches, Tame Impala, Etta James, John Lennon, Max Richter, Jack Garratt and The Jam were pressed on vinyl, with creatives from around the world creating 700 unique designs for the sleeves.

Years & Years' fast track to arenas


Last week saw Years & Years play their biggest headline show to date at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena. Olly, Emre and Mikey end their run of UK shows at Wembley Arena, playing to over 12,000 fans – over 10,000 more than fit into the intimate setting of Shepherd's Bush where the Polydor band started their whirlwind 12 months.

Slow burn sucess for Island's Posner


Island have this week announced the release of At Night, Alone, the second album from chart topping American singer, songwriter and producer Mike Posner, whose slow burning single I Took A Pill In Ibiza is set to top the UK chart for a second week.

Secret 7" reveal this year's artists


The Universal Music-supported art and music project Secret 7” has announced its contributing artists for its fifth yearly instalment.
